PPD K9 Darro

PERU, INDIANA - It wasn’t that long ago that the Peru Police Department didn’t have a K9 Officer within its ranks. They can now boast of having two dogs who are making a positive impact in our community.

When Michael Meeks was appointed Chief of the Peru Police Department, he made it a priority to bring back the K9 Officers. Meeks said the department’s last K9, Cartoush, went to the Indiana State Police during the prior administration.

Meeks credits the community for being able to raise the money necessary to obtain the dogs. Both K9s were paid for entirely by donations.
