Bunker Hill, IN – A Lawrence, Indiana woman was arrested last Thursday attempting to smuggle drugs into the Miami Correctional Facility during a prison visit with an inmate. Danyelle L. Gambert, 22 of Lawrence, IN was arrested on February 8, 2018, at the Facility by Lorna Harbaugh, an IDOC Police Officer.

According to a Probable Cause Affidavit filed with the Miami County Prosecutor’s Office, IDOC staff received intelligence stating that Ms. Gambert would have drugs in her possession during an upcoming visit with an offender incarcerated at Miami Correctional Facility. The Prosecutor’s Office withheld the name of the Offender Ms. Gambert planned to visit.

Bunker Hill, IN (January 19, 2018) – The American Red Cross recently set up a mobile blood drive at Miami Correctional Facility (MCF) which allowed for staff to donate blood. A total of thirty-nine staff members donated over the 2-day blood drive.

Executive Director and MCF Interim Warden William Wilson showed his support for this worthy cause by participating in the blood drive as well. “Thank you to all the staff that took the time to donate. The willingness of staff to make this contribution in hopes of making a difference in the lives of others is remarkable.”

Bunker Hill, IN – Executive Director and MCF Interim Warden of Miami Correctional Facility (MCF) William K. Wilson is pleased to announce the 2017 quarterly award winners. For this quarter, a total of seven (7) awards were presented and what makes these awards unique is that all award winners are nominated by their fellow staff members.

“It is absolutely phenomenal work that we do here in corrections. These staff members, in particular, have demonstrated their exceptional ability to go above and beyond in their job duties and deserve to be recognized,” stated Mr. Wilson.

Bunker Hill, IN – Tis the season of giving and Miami Correctional Facility (MCF) staff are doing just that. This month, MCF staff have been busy with purchasing gifts for families in need. MCF paired up again this year with Healthy Families of Miami County in a coordinated event in an effort to ease the financial burden of those less fortunate throughout the community.

Staff selected children from the “Angel Tree” displayed at the facility and quickly began shopping. In all, MCF staff purchased gifts for 34 families for a total of 84 children.

Bunker Hill, IN (December 20, 2017) – Miami Correctional Facility (MCF) was presented with the 2017 Indiana Criminal Justice Association (ICJA) Charity Award by ICJA President Mark Murphy. This was awarded to MCF for the 2017 largest fundraiser for the ICJA whose charity was “Autism Society of Indiana.” A total of $4, 828 was raised for the Autism Society.

Several projects throughout the year were coordinated by MCF Community Involvement Coordinator Cathy Stover and previous MCF Warden Kathy Griffin. Some of the projects included a silent auction and food sales for both offenders and staff. Chain O’Lakes Correctional Facility also helped raise $427 and several offenders also participated by donating money to this particular charity as well.
