The United Way of Miami County would like to thank all the students who applied for the Community of Character Scholarship. The scholarship is sponsored by the United Way and is open to any graduating senior from Maconaquah, North Miami, Oak Hill, and Peru Schools who plan to attend a post-secondary program. A $500 scholarship will be awarded to a senior from each school.

To apply for the Community of Character scholarship the students composed essays detailing how they demonstrated one of the following traits in their life: cooperation, citizenship, honesty, responsibility, forgiveness, perseverance, loyalty, trustworthy, courage, generosity, respect, or compassion.

The committee received several outstanding essays. The United Way would like to recognize the high school guidance departments for their continued support, and the publicity of the Tribune for promoting this prestigious scholarship.
