letter to the editor graphic

I am writing this letter to let the citizens of Miami County know that Tim Hunter is the best and most experienced man for the job of Miami County Sheriff. Tim was the acting Sheriff after Sheriff Ken Roland became ill. Tim has held nearly every position in the Sheriff’s Department under many different administrations as well. With over 42 years of experience, Tim is the most experienced man running for Sheriff.

I will never forget when became a police officer in 1998 and I had something happen to me that changed me and my confidence. I started as the Town Marshal in Amboy and I'm sure that did not mean much to the full-time officers with all their experience and knowledge. In one of my earliest days, I happened to be at the Sheriff’s Department to pick up paperwork. Tim was Chief Deputy at the time under Jack Rich and I’m sure he was busy and had a lot of responsibility in the department. Tim came up to me and asked me if he could help me with anything. Tim gave me his phone number and told me to call him anytime day or night if I needed anything. Tim took the time to talk to me and gave me advice. Not only was that one of the nicest things anyone has done for me but it gave me confidence knowing I had someone with an extreme amount of knowledge and experience that would help if I needed it. Over the last 20 years, I have talked to Tim many times in person or over the phone and I consider Tim a Friend.

Now 20 years later I am a better officer partly because of Tim Hunter taking the time for a rookie. Tim is very fair but can also be firm when he needs to be. I hope the citizens of Miami County will join me in voting for Tim Hunter as Miami County’s next Sheriff!
