12:36 a.m. An officer conducted a patrol of Maconaquah Park. Checked on one occupied vehicle. The female driver advised she was taking a break from issues at home. She advised she needed no further assistance. I advised her the parks were closed. Checked ok.

1:58 a.m. A report of a suspicious person at Village Pantry on W. Main St. Male juvenile loitering around the gas station. I followed the male home and made contact with his mother. Nothing further.

1:17 a.m. An officer checked on a male sleeping in a truck at Walgreen’s Drug Store on N. Broadway St. The male stated he was sleeping here due to issues at home. Checked ok.

1:30 a.m. Criminal Mischief in the 70 block of W. 3rd St. After a traffic stop, it was found that the driver's side window of the vehicle had been shattered possibly by the driver's ex-boyfriend. This case will be forwarded to the detectives for further investigation.

1:44 a.m. Building check in the 100 block of N. Broadway St. Checked ok.

2:06 a.m. A follow up to a criminal mischief incident in the 70 block of W. 3rd St. where the suspect may return to the address. The officer waited and the male suspect returned. The officer spoke with the male and it was determined that he was intoxicated on alcohol. Kerry Deardorff, 50, of Peru was arrested on a charge of OWI-Refusal.

The female complainant did have minor bodily injury. Fred Cooley, 48, Peru was arrested on a charge of Domestic Battery.

An officer observed the vehicle turn south onto Broadway from US 24, traveling 35 in a 25. A traffic stop was conducted. The driver was aware of the problem with the exhaust but was trying to get the vehicle home to Wabash after dropping off his passenger. The officer gave the driver a verbal warning for the speed and advised him to be careful that the car does not catch fire.
