12:27 a.m. Traffic accident with injuries in the 100 block of W. State Road 218, Bunker Hill. Deputies responded to a fatal accident in the area of State Road 218 west of Strawtown Pike. Isaiah Berry, of Kokomo, was pronounced dead at the scene. Another individual was transported to Lutheran Hospital. The crash is currently under investigation. The Miami County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by Indiana State Police, Pipe Creek Fire Department, Miami County EMA, Dukes EMS, The Miami County Coroner’s Office, and Miami County Central Dispatch.
4:22 a.m. A deputy conducted a transport from Dukes Memorial Hospital.
4:31 a.m. A report of an auto theft was taken in the 100 block of E. Cleveland St., Bunker Hill.
7:26 a.m. A report of an animal problem in the 4200 block of E. State Road 124, Peru.
7:31 a.m. Traffic stop in the area of N. Paw Paw Pike / E. 600 N., Peru. Warning issued.
8:29 a.m. A deputy conducted a patrol of North Miami Schools on E. 900 N., Denver.
8:32 a.m. A deputy took a report of criminal mischief in the 9000 block of E. 1050 S., Amboy.
8:39 a.m. A report of a juvenile problem in the 2900 block of Travis St., Peru. ISP handled this call.
8:44 a.m. A report of an alarm in the 4800 block of S. 200 W., Peru.
9:25 a.m. Traffic accident with damage in the area of S. Business 31 / W. Farview Dr., Peru. Minor damage reported. A state crash report was completed. Both vehicles were able to drive away from the scene.
12:03 p.m. A report of a burglary in the 100 block of E. Broadway St., Bunker Hill. A caller advised she saw a male subject inside an abandoned building. Building search by Deputies and a Wabash County K9 Unit was conducted. Deputies were not able to locate anyone inside the building.
12:13 p.m. A deputy conducted a welfare check in the 2900 block of S. 400 W., Peru.
2:12 p.m. A deputy responded to the 6700 block of E. Wabash Rd., Peru in reference to a distressed female. Everything checked ok.
2:16 p.m. A deputy conducted an extra patrol of North Miami Schools on E. 900 N., Denver.
2:42 p.m. Traffic accident with damage in the area of N. Chili Ave. / E. US Route 24, Peru. A vehicle driven by Lauren Groothuis of Kokomo was traveling in the passing lane of US Route 24. She had slowed to verify she as at State Road 19. At the same time, a semi-truck pulling a trailer was passing her in the driving lane. The back of the trailer struck the mirror of her vehicle. The semi operated by Stephen Cromany of Columbia City continued unaware of the collision. The semi driver was later located and fully cooperated once made aware of the incident. No injuries were reported and only minor damage to the passenger car.
4:17 p.m. Traffic accident with damage in the area of S. Sease Dr. / S. US Route 31, Peru. Richard Clingaman, of Peru, was attempting to turn onto Sease Dr. from southbound US Route 31 and failed to see a vehicle in the northbound lane operated by Lance Krause of Spencer. When Clingaman became to cross the northbound lanes, his vehicle struck the drivers side rear end of Krause’s vehicle. There were no injuries reported. A state crash report was completed.
5:36 a.m. A Units responded to the 43000 block of Keesler Ct., Peru for a possible fight. A no trespass order was issued.
6:49 p.m. A deputy conducted a welfare check on a subject in the 3200 block of Schilling St., Peru. Everything checked ok.
8:39 p.m. A deputy responded to the 500 block of Egypt Hill Dr., Peru for a domestic disturbance. Parties were separated. Assistance was given.
9:21 p.m. A deputy assisted officers at the main gate of Grissom ARB with a possible intoxicated driver. It was determined the driver was not impaired in anyway. The driver consented to a vehicle search and nothing was located. Assistance was given.
9:38 p.m. A deputy responded to the Miami County Jail for a report of a battery. This is an ongoing investigation.
10:17 p.m. Juvenile Problem at North Miami Schools on 900 N., Denver. A deputy assisted a faculty member of North Miami High School with addressing a potential problem with a student. No criminal action was taken.
11:52 p.m. A report of a traffic hazard in the area of N. US Route 31 / W. 1600 N., Rochester.
