1:02 a.m. An Officer assisted a motorist with a disabled vehicle in the 1100 block of E. State Road 124.

1:22 a.m. Traffic stop in the area of E. State Road 124 / S. 300 E. Rex Lynch, 59 of Converse was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated.

2:47 a.m. Traffic stop in the area of S. Wabash St. / E. 2nd St. Verbal warning issued.

3:25 a.m. A report of a fight at the Korner Lounge on N. Broadway St. The parties separated. Nothing further at this time.

4:46 a.m. A report of loud music from a downstairs apartment in the 200 block of N. Water St. The occupants were advised to turn it down.  *Editor’s note:  The resident who contacted the police reported to Peru Indiana Today that she did not hear loud music.  She stated “I reported that they had already kept me up for 3 nights being loud and I needed sleep to be able to work....I never heard music.”*

5:03 a.m. Traffic stop in the area of N. Clay St. / E. Washington Ave. Verbal warning issued.

6:43 a.m. Property damage accident at St. Charles Catholic Church on W. 5th St. Local report completed. No additional information was provided.

7:10 a.m. 911 Hang-up in the area of S. Hood St. / W. 2nd St.

8:00 a.m. An Officer assisted with traffic in the area of N. Broadway St. / W. 10th St. while gas was retrieved for a stranded vehicle.

8:09 a.m. An Officer responded to a report of a broken window at the old American Legion building on E. 6th St. The Officer could not locate a broken window.

9:28 a.m. Traffic stop in the area of Euclid Ave. / N. Wayne St. Written warning issued.

9:29 a.m. An Officer assisted EMS with a medical call in the 100 block of S. Lincoln St.

10:41 a.m. An Officer checked on a van that was pulled off the side of the road in the area of W. US Route 24 / N. Eel River Cemetery Rd. The driver advised he was having a migraine. Checked ok.

10:59 a.m. Traffic stop in the area of N. Benton St. / E. Main St. Verbal warning issued.

11:04 a.m. Traffic stop in the area of Smith St. / E. Main St.

1:33 p.m. An Officer assisted a citizen with a locked vehicle in the 20 block of Washington Ave.

1:35 p.m. A report of theft of medication in the 800 block of Bobtail Ct.

2:12 p.m. A report of a suspicious person going through trash cans in the 60 block of S. Fremont St. The Officer was unable to locate anyone matching the description given.

2:15 p.m. An Officer responded to a citizen complaint at Siefred’s Auto on E. Canal St. The issue was referred to Zoning Department.

2:42 p.m. Funeral escort in the 100 block of W. 3rd St.

4:21 p.m. Traffic stop in the area of Water St. / E. Washington Ave. Citation and warning issued.

4:23 p.m. A citizen in the 300 block of Apache Dr. wanted to report that her child’s cell phone was broken at school today by a teacher. Assistance was given.

4:28 p.m. K9 deployment in the area of Water St. / E. Washington Ave. Free air sniff.

4:46 p.m. An Officer conducted a follow-up to a crash investigation in the 800 block of Orchid Place.

5:01 p.m. Traffic stop in the area of Wabash St. / E. 8th St. A passenger, Christopher Warren, 48 of Peru was arrested on a Miami County Warrant.

5:04 p.m. K9 deployment in the area of Wabash St. / E. 8th St. Free air sniff.

5:14 p.m. Property damage accident in the 200 block of E. Spring St. Susan M. Purvis, 61 of Peru was backing out of a driveway on E. Spring Street in a 2016 Ford Focus when she struck a mailbox. Purvis stated she was using the backup camera and accidentally went off the driveway striking the mailbox. A state crash report was completed. Damage is estimated at between $2,501 and $5,000. No injuries were reported.

5:40 p.m. A woman came to the Peru Police Department wanting to know what she could do to get her adult sister back to Michigan. The woman was advised that the Police could not force her sister to go back to Michigan with her. Assistance was given.

5:40 p.m. An Officer conducted a welfare check on a juvenile in the 10 block of Turnpaugh Trail. Everything checked ok.

7:06 p.m. Traffic stop in the area of W. Main St. / N. Grant St. Verbal warning issued.

7:19 p.m. Traffic stop in the area of Clay St. / E. Main St. Warning issued.

7:20 p.m. Traffic stop in the area of Water St. / E. 6th St. Verbal warning issued.

7:25 p.m. Traffic stop in the area of S. Clay St. / E. 3rd St. Driver issued a citation. A passenger, Andrew Downins, 30 of Wabash was arrested for possession of a syringe.

7:31 p.m. K9 deployment in the area of S. Clay St. / E. 3rd St. Free air sniff.

8:48 p.m. Warrant service in the 30 block of W. Warren St. Jorden Prater, 25 of Peru was arrested on a Miami County Warrant.

9:05 p.m. Attempted warrant service in the 100 block of W. 7th St. No contact was made with the subject of the warrant.
