INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Governor Eric Holcomb has declared September 24-30, 2017 as Indiana Rail Safety Week in conjunction with U.S. Rail Safety Week that will take place in all 50 states. Our goal is to increase rail safety awareness by working together on national rail safety week. Indiana State Police, Indiana Department of Transportation, local law enforcement and railroad companies have partnered together to raise awareness about the dangers of disregarding railroad crossing laws and trespassing on railroad property.

Wabash County – Recently, a criminal investigation by Indiana State Police Detective Josh Maller resulted in the arrest of Donnie Horne, 38, rural Huntington, IN. Master Trooper Gary Shenefield served Horne a Hamilton Superior Court IV arrest warrant alleging a felony charge of possession of stolen property. Horne was arrested at his place of employment in Whitley County. He was incarcerated in the Whitley County Jail awaiting transport to Hamilton County.

Miami County – Yesterday, a bilateral criminal investigation by police officers from the Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) and the Jefferson Parish Louisiana Sheriff’s Department led to the arrest of Trent Kaiser, 21, rural Roann, IN. Kaiser is incarcerated in the Miami County Jail to face a felony charge for possession of child pornography. He also has a warrant for his arrest from Louisiana.

Miami County – Yesterday at approximately 5:30 p.m., officers from the Indiana State Police and the Miami County Sheriff’s Department responded to a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 31 near Miami County Road 1200 South, in which a Peru woman was injured.

The preliminary crash investigation by Indiana State Police Trooper Steven Glass revealed that Jessica Kinley, 30, Peru, IN, was driving a 2005 Pontiac G6 northbound on U.S. 31 near Miami County Road 1200 South. For an undetermined reason, the Pontiac veered onto the east shoulder, of U.S. 31, and rear-ended an unoccupied 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. The Monte Carlo was parked on the shoulder due to having a mechanical issue.

Bunker Hill – Today, a criminal investigation by Indiana State Police Detective Josh Maller has resulted in the arrest of Joshua B. Stam, 26, Columbus, IN. Stam was served a Miami Circuit Court arrest warrant alleging criminal charges for attempted murder, aggravated battery, attempted escape, and battery resulting in bodily injury to a public safety officer. The warrant was served by Indiana State Police Trooper Tom Hanks, at the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility, where Stam is currently incarcerated.

Wabash – Recently a criminal investigation by Indiana State Police Detective Josh Maller resulted in the arrest of Emma Moore, 22, Wabash, IN. Moore was served a Wabash Circuit Court arrest warrant alleging a felony charge for neglect of a dependent. The warrant was served by officers from the Wabash County Sheriff’s Department, to Moore, at the Wabash County Jail where she is currently incarcerated from a previous arrest.

Grant County – Yesterday, at approximately 5:20 p.m., officers from the Indiana State Police responded to a two vehicle crash on I-69 near the 271 mile marker, in which an Oklahoma man was injured.

Rochester – Last night a vehicle pursuit led to the arrest of Brian Becktell, 54, Powhatan, AR. Becktell was incarcerated in the Fulton County Jail to face criminal charges for resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, criminal recklessness, and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
