Peru, IN - On December 4, 2017, at approximately 3:37 p.m., Sergeant Samantha Raber responded to the 350 block of West Twelfth Street for a report of a theft. After arriving at the residence, the victim advised Sergeant Raber that a male by the name of Brandon Thomas had visited his residence around 2:00 a.m. Thomas remained at the residence when the victim eventually went to bed. Upon waking up, Mr. Thomas was no longer in the residence. The victim then noticed several items missing from his residence. Those items were a Taurus 9mm handgun, a Citizen watch, keys to his residence and his vehicle and a Galaxy J3 cell phone.
Sergeant Raber along with Rod Richard and Officer Shawn Swinford went to a residence at 138 East Eighth Street where they made contact with Brandon Thomas. They transported Brandon to the Peru Police Department for questioning about the theft.
After obtaining a search warrant for the residence, Officers were able to locate a syringe that tested positive for heroin, a Citizen watch and a cell phone that matched the description of the stolen watch. Officers also located a pair of Nike Air Max shoes that Brandon had admitted to stealing.
Brandon Thomas, 23, was arrested and charged with Possession of a Syringe, Possession of Heroin and Possession of Stolen Property. He is currently being held at the Miami County Jail.
