Peru, IN --- Paul Wilson is running as a Republican on the May 5, 2020, Primary ballot to continue the service provided by retiring County Recorder, Rhonda Trexler. Trexler will vacate the office at the end of her term in December 2020.
“I am looking forward to running for the office of Miami County Recorder,” Wilson said. “It is an honor to have the endorsements of current Recorder, Rhonda Trexler, as well as, former Recorders Brenda Weaver and Sherry Payne.” “The experience offered by these three ladies has helped to shape my view of government service and what the Office of Recorder offers to the public and businesses.”
Paul has experienced training and the management of the office over the past three years as Chief Deputy Recorder under the guidance of Rhonda Trexler. Paul brings a total of eight years of service in County Government and 12 years in State Government to the office. This experience goes hand in hand with being elected to and serving on the Pipe Creek Township Advisory Board and representing Miami County as an elected Delegate at State Republican Conventions.
“I am running for this office to continue seamless service to Abstract and Title Companies, Attorneys, Banking Institutions and members of the public who seek assistance at this office. We maintain the records of property deeds, mortgages and property history. The effective access and distribution of these records to promote business and to preserve reliable information about these records is my ongoing goal,” Paul states. Preservation of on-site and off-site electronic access to these records will be maintained and Paul is spearheading the Honor Rewards Program sponsored by the Recorder’s Office to acknowledge our nation’s veterans for their sacrifices for our country. The goal of the Honor Rewards Program is to allow veterans to receive discounts and benefits at local participating retailers. According to Paul, "The teamwork of the Auditor’s, Assessor’s, Treasurer’s and Surveyor’s Office and networking with the City of Peru are priorities I will work hard to maintain.”
Paul was raised in Miami County and attended North Miami and Peru Community School Systems. Upon graduation from Peru High School Paul received a bachelor’s Degree from Indiana University and has ongoing credits from Indiana State University and Ivy Tech Community College. Managerial experience was obtained in vocational capacities of Social Worker, Coordinator, and Department Head during employment at Miami Correctional Facility and Logansport State Hospital. Multiple governmental managerial, leadership and education trainings have been completed during government employment.
Currently, Paul resides in Pipe Creek Township just outside of Peru where he continues to serve on the Pipe Creek Advisory Board and Our Father’s Library Board. Current and past community activities have been commitments to the Kokomo Rescue Mission, Salvation Army, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, All Things Are Possible Living Facility, Miami Correctional Facility, Miami Nation of Indians, Bunker Hill Plan Commission and the Bunker Hill Board of Zoning Appeals. Throughout the duration of activities Paul has participated in multiple opportunities to serve Miami County residents.
