Peru, IN - Peru Elks Lodge No. 365 is gearing up to host the Tri-City Dart Association’s 6th Annual Linda Foote Memorial Dart Tournament on Saturday, March 10, 2018, beginning at 10:00 a.m. The event will be held at the Elks Lodge at 122 N. Broadway St., Peru.
The Tri-City Dart Association was founded about 32 years ago by a woman named Linda Foote. The Dart league has been holding this fundraiser for local Cancer survivors for the last six years. It is named in honor of Linda Foote who suffered from Cancer that resulted in her untimely death.
The league has had various homes over the years but now meets regularly at the Peru Elks Lodge. The association is open to anyone over the age of 18 who is interested in this very enjoyable hobby. You do not need to be a member of the Elks Lodge to participate.
Tri-City reports that it is the largest Dart League in Indiana.
All the funds raised in the tournament support Miami County cancer survivors and families through the Elks Lodge’s Cancer Fund.
“This is not just a dart league, we are here to help the community,” said member John Renn. “We have also helped people who are sick and people who have experienced a hardship due to a fire.”
The group plans six events during the tournament and each event has a $10.00 entry fee. If you decide you want to join the league, you can join for free by participating in this tournament.
Businesses who what to support the league and the event can purchase a 5X7 advertisement that will appear on the dart boards. The cost is just $100.00 and the boards will be used by the league all year long.
In addition to the dart tournament, the Elks Lodge will also host their Annual Cancer Auction on February 24, 2018. They will have an oven steak and potato dinner from 4-6 p.m., with the auction starting at 7:00 p.m. The dinner is just $8.00 per person. The dinner and auction will also be held at the Elks Lodge on N. Broadway St.
The Elks have been hosting the Cancer Auction for over 40 years and have raised thousands of Dollars to support local cancer victims. This year, the proceeds from the auction will benefit Marie Rabe and Paula McKinney.
